Melissa and Iver's Wedding

Congratulations to Melissa and Iver! I had the pleasure of working with Melissa for her floral designs. She wanted a homey atmosphere for her reception which was held at The Smith Barn in Peabody. Bold persimmon and navy were the colors we used and they made a gorgeous statement. Melissa also had me add some meaningful elements to her flowers. Her bouquet handle had a photo of her dog and her husband likes to cook so we used sage in his boutonniere. I had a great time working on this wedding and I wish Melissa and Iver all the best for many years to come!

Thank you to Will at William Tangorra Photography for sharing these beautiful photos!

It's been a while...

I can't believe how long it has been since my last post. This year has been going by so quickly. As wedding season approaches I will try to be better about posting...I am so excited about all the weddings I have coming up. All of my clients have beautiful ideas for me to work with. In the meantime here is a sample of a few things I have worked on in the past few months.

I love my job!!

I really do love my job. Each time I deliver flowers to an event it gives me such a good feeling...it is an honor that people include me in the important events of their lives and it is so rewarding to bring just a little bit of joy to people. In the middle of the winter there is an extra bonus. On a snowy day like today it is such a pleasure to work with the flowers that are a reminder of warmer weather and to be able to bring a little bit of nature indoors.
For this weekend I was hired to make a few special arrangements for a young girl's birthday party. My client wanted the sweetest pinks and I was able to find some really special flowers for her. These arrangements include tuberose, which has an amazing fragrance, wax flower, pale pink roses and pink anemones. I loved them so much I had to buy a few for my own table as well.
Enjoy these photos and stay warm!

Finally Feels Like Christmas

I love Christmas. Besides the meaning of Christmas and being with family and firends there are always certain sights and sounds that make it "feel" like Christmas time. I love the smell of pine, baking cookies, and having to heat up the car before driving anywhere. I love the cold weather, having to wear a scarf outside and being able to see my breath outside. For the last few weeks it just hasn't felt like Christmas time. The weather has been eerily warm most days and even reached into the 60's. Weird. But today that Christmas feeling has finally come. We got just enough snow last night to cover the trees and the ground. It's beautiful! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas or Chanukah or whatever day you celebrate at this time of year!

Enjoy the following photos of recent work I have done.

Getting Started

I am very new to blogging but I keep hearing how great it is...keep people up to date on what you're doing...promote business...keep clients up to date on your latest work..etc. So, I'm going to give it a try. For those of you who don't know, my name is Elizabeth McClure. I own Flourish & Ferns, a floral design studio focused on weddings, baby and bridal showers, anniversary parties and other events.

In this blog I will be listing my latest designs. The most recent pictures I have are from the wedding of Allison and James. The reception was held at Su Chang's Restaurant in Peabody, MA. Allison wanted to take advantage of all the beautiful harvest colors in the fall. We decided to use two types of arrangements: low and tall. The tall arrangements had curly willow branches with orange mokara orchids hand tied all over them. Lots of work but the effect it gave was so worth it. They were such a great couple and I wish them the best!
